Journey of a Soul

Every day, he traveled several kilometers on his bicycle to a nearby village to further his practice. But the 1978 floods changed everything.
There was a huge uproar in the village. All transport services were disrupted, there was no food supply, and the government lagged behind, unable to send relief units.
Dr. Dilip took matters into his own hands and started treating the injured and affected people, providing all services free of charge until government relief forces and medical units arrived.
When medical support finally reached the village, the people put their trust in Dr. Dilip, preferring his care over that of the government officials.
After the floods, the villagers urged him to open a clinic, which he did, charging only 25 paise (a quarter of a rupee), including the cost of medicines.
In 1979, Dr. Dilip married Suchitra. Their wedding was exceptional, as he defied cultural norms by taking an oath on the Hindu holy book, the 'Srimad Bhagwat Gita'.
When asked why he still charges just 5 rupees in today's expensive world, he replied, “I want to challenge the services provided by the government. They could not support or serve the village, so I did. The money I earn is sufficient for me and my family. It’s enough to purchase medicine.”
“I started with 25 paise but had to steadily increase the fee as the cost of living rose. From 25 paise to 50 paise, then 1 rupee, and now I charge 5 rupees. This will remain the final amount until the day I die."
He added, "A family of four needs to spend about 400-500 rupees for their check-up, while I'll do the same for just 20 rupees."
Dr. Dilip's frustration with government facilities isn't his sole motivation. "Every educated person from the village migrated to large cities; no one stayed back here. So I did."
"I cured a person suffering from nephritis. City hospitals gave up on him, but I treated him with homeopathic medicine. Though it took almost two years, he was eventually cured."
Dr. Dilip believes in simple living and high thinking and hopes that youth will embrace the same values. And his story is a testament to the power of selflessness and dedication. His unwavering commitment to his community, despite the challenges and limitations, serves as an inspiration to all. By choosing to stay and serve his village, he has not only provided essential medical care but also instilled a sense of hope and resilience. Dr. Dilip believes in simple living and high thinking, and he hopes that the youth will embrace these values to make a meaningful difference in society. His legacy is a powerful reminder that true success lies not in wealth or recognition, but in the positive impact one has on the lives of others.
